Brian has been working water and wastewater systems since he was 12 years old, helping his dad maintain and repair a small water system with multiple septic systems in rural southern Arizona. Brian developed a passion for water and water recycling since that time and has had a unique and varied career in the water industry. Brian has worked for both municipal and private water and sewer systems throughout the state. He has been the General Manager for Arizona American’s properties in Arizona, the Deputy Utility Director for the City of Peoria, and the Executive Director of Scottsdale Water, a position he held for 12 years. While at Scottsdale, Brian was responsible for the most innovative water recycling system in Arizona, the Scottsdale Water Campus, and oversaw the creation of the first permitted direct potable reuse demonstration facility in the state. Most recently he was the Interim Executive Director for the WateReuse Association in Washington DC, where he helped WateReuse transition leadership while continuing to expand its position as the leader in promoting and advocating for water recycling.

Brian is a registered professional Environmental Engineer and a certified grade 4 operator in Water Distribution, Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, and Wastewater Collections.

His awards and honors include the 2018 AZ Water Environmental Stewardship Award, 2024 WateReuse Arizona Person of the Year, 2025 WateReuse Presidents Award.
